PRAY FIRST IN ALL WE DO

MATT. 6:6-13

PRAYER AND WORSHIP

Prayer and Worship is what we are all about as members of Christ’s one, holy, catholic and apostolic church. We here at St. Francis take pride in our corporate prayer and worship and we hope that you will participate in those areas that speak to your heart.   As baptized Christians, the Lord himself calls us to prayer and worship and we invite you to join us.

ADULT CHOIR/MUSICAL TALENT

St Francis has an all volunteer adult choir that sings at the 10:30 Sunday morning service. The choir sings the hymns with the congregation, the offertory anthem, and other appointed pieces during the service. The choir from time to time is called upon to sing special services during the Christian year e.g., Christmas and Easter as well as an occasional Advent or Lenten Cantata. The choir rehearses weekly on Thursday evening @ 6:45p.m. and briefly on Sunday morning.

MUSICAL TALENT: St. Francis is very interested in having parishioners support worship services and the choir with musical instruments. Anyone who has a talent on a musical instrument, please inform the Choir Director or the Rector as to the instrument played and the

nature of the music.more »

ALTAR GUILD

A simple desire to serve God at His altar is all that is needed for this ministry. The Altar Guild is responsible for the setting up and caring for the altar linens, candles, and other items used during the church services. Members set up the altar prior to services, clean up after services, decorate and redecorate for each church season, care for altar linens, candles and Eucharistic vessels as scheduled. Monthly schedules are posted.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTER/VISITOR (EM/EV)

Eucharistic ministers and visitors serve God through the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist.  An EM serves the consecrated wine (and sometimes the bread) during the celebration of Holy Communion.  An EV brings Holy Communion to parishioners who are unable to attend Sunday worship because of illness.   EMs also read the Prayers of the People.   EMs can be adults or older teens, as long as the training program has been fulfilled.  Schedules are posted for periods of two months.

ACOLYTES/TORCH BEARERS

Acolytes and torch bearers serve God through worship services by bearing the cross and candles during processions and the reading of the Gospel. The acolyte assists the priest during the Offertory and Holy Communion.  All ages are welcome, but youth are desired.  There is a minimal training time. Schedules are posted for periods of two months.

GREETERS/USHERS

GREETERS: As part of the Evangelism and welcoming ministry, the desire is to simply serve God through His church by greeting members and guests before the service. Greeters are asked to pay close attention to visitors, giving them a Banner and asking them to sign the guest book in the Narthex. Greeters are required to arrive 30 minutes early. Schedules are posted.

USHERS: An usher is expected to distribute the bulletins and bring the Eucharistic bread and wine to the altar at the beginning of the offertory, to circulate the offering plates, return the offering plates to the altar during the doxology, and direct those desiring to receive communion to the altar in an orderly fashion. Youth through adults are welcome to serve. Ushers are asked to arrive 30 minutes early. Schedules are posted.

ORDER OF ST. LUKE (OSL)
The Order of St. Luke is a prayer group dedicated to the miracles of healing in the church today. An interested group of parishioners meet each Wednesday afternoon at 5:15 to study the healing miracles of Jesus Christ in Holy Scripture and to learn what God's healing power has in store for us here at St. Francis. A group of established OSL members meet at the same time to study a book selection or series that the group chooses. At 6:15 there is a service of Holy Eucharist with healing prayers and the Laying on of Hands in the Church. St. Francis has a established a Sunday Morning healing ministry under the direction of OSL. OSL parishioners are available to pray for the needs of the congregation while communion is being distributed at each of the morning services in the Chapel.more »
DAUGHTERS OF THE KING (DOK)
The Daughters of the King serve God by belonging to a group of women who pray daily for the prayer requests received from friends, family members, and acquaintances of parishioners.  The DOK also prays daily for the parish and the clergy of the parish.  This is an extension of God’s Kingdom through prayer, service, and evangelism.  Members join the National Order and meet together once a month on the third Saturday of the month in the chapel from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.  The above group is for adult women, and a second group for girls and young women, aged seven to twenty, may be formed in the future. Our own Rector, Elizabeth Myers is the DOK chaplain for our Diocese. mo re »

BROTHERHOOD OF ST. ANDREW (BStA)

The Brotherhood of St. Andrew is the counterpart of the Daughters of the King.  They are a ministry for the spread of Christ’s Kingdom among men and boys in the Episcopal/Anglican Communion.  The object of the Brotherhood is not devotion to service, but devotion to Jesus Christ.   These devoted men meet at noon in the library on the second Wednesday of the month.  They share lunch, prayers and a short Scriptural discussion. mo re »
NURSERY AND CHILD CARE
This ministry is to provide respite for parents during the 8am and 10:30am services.  Older children are brought back to their parents at the offertory, while smaller children will be kept in the youth room for the duration of the service.  As always, we welcome God’s children in our worship.
YOUTH GROUP
A youth group for Middle and High School students is established at St. Francis. Many events are sponsored by the youth, and they attend many events throughout the year. more »
