PARISH LIFE
Parish life is a very strong ministry at St. Francis. There is always something going on, just check out our current and upcoming events. You can be as involved or uninvolved as you wish, but your presence is always desired.

MEN'S CLUB

The Men's Club meets the fourth Monday evening at 6:00 for dinner and fellowship; an open invitation is extended to all men of the parish. The primary purpose of the club is to provide another opportunity for fellowship among parishioners. From time to time during the year, the club plans and carries our various fundraising events, e.g., operating a booth at the Lake Placid Country Fair in February, occasionally sponsoring a 1st Sunday Breakfast and sponsoring the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner. Planning for these activities is conducted at the meetings. The club meets during the summer for continuing fellowship but no club business activities are conducted.

ANGLICAN ANGELS
Once upon a time things had quieted down at St. Francis during the summers.  The winter people had gone north.  The Rector asked if there wasn't something that could be done to stir up interest.  Some parish ladies got together and decided on crafts - old time, forgotten crafts.  Other ladies started dropping in to see what was going on.  They brought crafted items in to "show" and there was plenty of interesting conversation going around.  So many crafted items were turned in that an annual bazaar began.  The bazaar turned out to be a good fundraiser and all of the money was turned over to the church.  Other than the treasurer, there are no other officers.  The group meets every Wednesday morning @ 9:30 am.  About 11 o'clock a cry goes up "where are we going for lunch!"  This is a truly friendly group; come and enjoy!

ST. MARTHA'S GUILD/ECW
St. Martha’s Guild is a branch of the Episcopal Church Women’s (ECW) Council of Central Florida.  All baptized Episcopal women are automatically members of the ECW.  The major goal of the ECW is to provide opportunities to grow spiritually through service to others.  Programs of worship, study, fellowship and fund-raising allow each woman to use her own talents.  St. Martha’s Guild has been active at St. Francis since 1961 and sponsors dinners, tasting luncheons, garage sales, prayer days, etc.  Proceeds from these events have been used for linens and other altar supplies, as well as building fund donations.  Donations are given annually to Honduras Missions, Anchor House, Manna Ministries and other missions. Gifts have also been given to our Youth Group. Through their Sunshine fund they attempt to send cards to all women of the parish when they are ill or a death in the family occurs.  The ECW meets the first Thursday of each month in the Parish Hall @ 10 am.  Following the meeting, the guild adjourns to a local restaurant for lunch.

SAME BOAT

This is relatively a new ministry at St. Francis. As a vision of one of our parishioners, she brought it to fruition. Same Boat is primarily for our single persons. The group gets together once a month (Third Friday Night) for dinner and fellowship. The talking, laughter, and good time doesn't stop. Fast friendships have been made through this group. For more information contact Terri...see her email address on our Contact page.

SPECIAL OCCASION MEALS
At St. Francis we have many of these meals.  We believe we are the best-fed congregation in the area.  Some are passing dish type meals others are fully sponsored and prepared.  If you wish to join in with this well-fed group, particularly to put your culinary expertise to use, your participation would be most welcome.  You don’t have to worry about how you apply for this service, you just wait for the event announcements then sign up on the sign up sheets that will magically appear.  1st Sunday Breakfasts, Newcomers and Departing Snow Birds dinners, Thanksgiving Dinner, are but a couple of examples.
